A very special birthday visitor

The week started with absolute magic. Merryn’s parents arranged for two donkeys to meet us at Abbotsbury cricket pitch. The children had a fantastic morning meeting, stroking, and taking turns riding them. It was an unforgettable experience.

The autumn theme continued this week as the children collected red leaves, admired the last of the flowers at the allotments, added conkers to playdough and created conker rolling paint pictures.

Dressed in our waterproofs on a rainy day, we headed outside to get busy in the mud kitchen, where rainwater became the perfect ingredient for messy mud pies and nature soups. Of course, no rainy day is complete without plenty of time jumping in the biggest puddles we could find!

Indoors the children set up a shop selling pretend ice creams and hot chocolates to warm everyone up. They used large playing cards as their currency, and rode the ride on toys around the hall.
