Pumpkin bird feeder

Using the skills the children learnt last week they made pumpkin bird feeders by drilling holes and threading string into pieces of pumpkin. Thanks to Muddy Patches for replacing our old bench the children could rest in between jobs.  Filling a hole with water, the mud became irresistible to most children. Squelching, digging, and sliding was good fun. So was hosing them down with the hose pipe, and splashing in puddles to get the mud off.

A great selection of arts and crafts engaged the children throughout the week. Painting on foil and listening to the noise the foil made when they painted on to it to create fireworks was a new sensory experience for children. Gathering around the fire pit and toasting marshmallows proved to be a sought after activity. Children made hand print poppies and poppy collages for Remembrance Sunday.

Several children engaged in imaginative role play, dressing up as Spider-Man and princesses while using a doctor’s play set. They demonstrated cooperative play and developed communication and social skills.
