We have had a busy and productive time exploring the outdoors this week. The children turned into expert foragers as we went picking and squashing blackberries. We also went on an exciting mushroom hunt through the grounds. After safely identifying and collecting various mushrooms, the children practiced their fine motor skills by chopping them up with child-safe knives. Of course, we paired this with an important health lesson, ensuring everyone was washing hands thoroughly after handling our forest finds.
Equipped with spades and wheelbarrows to dig, the children worked hard moving soil and exploring the earth at the allotments. The excitement continued as we gathered by the gate to watch the men in the field mend the wall.
Back at the pre-school we enjoyed a peaceful game of sleeping lions. Later, the children enjoyed setting up a tea party in the garden, and washing up after.
