We’ve had a “cracking” week filled with sensory play and creative discovery!
Our Easter tray was a hit! The children explored eggs of all different sizes and colours, practice their sorting skills by matching them to the right baskets. They nestled them into bright, creative filling grass, which provided a wonderful tactile experience. To celebrate our Easter Egg Hunt, the children created a giant event poster using their own hand prints to make colourful Easter chicks and bunnies. The children hunted for plastic Easter eggs, but were given a chocolate egg at the end of the day, kindly given by Ronnie (Rachel Flowers).
The highlight of our sensory play was the pink cornflour and water tray (oobleck!). We hid delicate pink petals inside the gooey mixture. The children used spoons, cups, and whisks to scoop and pour, exploring the strange “solid-yet-liquid” texture while hunting for the floral treasures hidden beneath.
Finally we got to eat the rhubarb sorbet, and most of the children agreed it was delicious.
On Wednesday we braved the wind to go to the allotments, and kept warm by digging.
