End of year fun

What a fun sports day we had with the pre school children and parents/grandparents cheering on their friends. In groups, the children lined up at the start line, waiting for the signal to go. Eagerly they waited for the countdown and were quick off the mark as soon as they heard ‘Go!’ Sports day is all about taking part – not coming first, but just being there with friends and joining in. As children crossed the finish line, some children were still only halfway there, but determined to keep going, and some still on the start line. With an adult hand to hold enabling everyone to get involved, cheers rang out as they crossed the finish line. Races included, wellie wangers, hoopla, lawnmower and wheelbarrow, egg and spoon, sack, and dressing up. All children received a medal and ice lolly for their great efforts. We finished off the day with a tug of war for everyone.

This week Abbotsbury Explorers attempted to find their way to the egg in the centre of the fantastic living willow swan maze. We failed miserably. However the go karts, play park and tea party cheered us up.

We celebrated the last day with a forest school themed party at the allotments. Peeling carrots, decorating tiles, making clay models and hammering golf tees into apples were just a few activities offered. After saying goodbye to children moving on to school and different settings we lit the fire and toasted marshmallows. What an amazing year we have had.
