Lots of colourful creativity occurred this week. Decorating the bags for Candle on the Hill, painting poppies for Remembrance Day, Firework chalk pictures and tissue paper collage. On a cheeky visit to Muddy Patches Wednesday we had a leisurely stroll around the fairy garden and came away with some lovely goodies. Thursday afternoon we walked […]

We can always depend on Marj’s ability to produce the best pumpkins and marrows, and she never lets us down. The children loved rolling up their sleeves and exploring the insides. Although I fear she may have competition next year as Steve and Sandra’s (Abbotsbury Old Schoolhouse Tea Rooms) home grown carrots provided lots of

Hand/eye coordination was definitely needed this week as the children hammered golf tees into a butternut squash using mallets. Out and about the children enjoyed collecting different coloured/shaped leaves and later used them to make playdough creatures and hedgehog collages. After several requests recently to walk to the chapel we finally managed it. A quick

There was lots going on this week for the children to enjoy and help develop their skills in all areas. Leaf rubbing, opening conkers and conker rolling, digging at the allotments, making cakes, sorting fruit, guess what’s in a sock, cornflour messy play, and painting a butternut squash. The children loved their goody bags, full of great ideas to make our own fairy garden. We will be back, and not just for the swing!

Using the produce grown from the garden/allotments sparked the children’s interest this week. Cutting up runner beans, apple printing, blackberry juice painting and scattering seed bombs were just a few of our activities. Bewildered why the children were pointing at a toy cricket on the car imagine my surprise when I went to pick it

What a great week back we had. All the children settled in straight away and were eager to join in with the activities offered. Picking, eating and crushing blackberries, smashing chalk, opening poppy heads and scattering the seeds, learning new yoga poses and listening to stories and playing games from ‘I Can’ (Children’s communication charity)

We couldn’t believe our luck when we saw a tractor and rake parked right outside the Pre-school. So exciting! On our walk to the river we stopped to listen/look for the abundance of grasshoppers. Celebrating the end of term on Wednesday a selection of Forest School activities were available for children to enjoy, including peeling

To support the children’s fascination with minibeasts a butterfly themed tray offered them further opportunity to explore caterpillars, butterflies and flowers. And to practice their fine physical skills a magnetic bug game was well received. Another trip to the park and some children are mastering the art of the seesaw. With all the beautiful flowers
