Abbotsbury Explorers, Roy Lancaster, and the gardening team from Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens officially opened the Lancaster’s Hut on Monday. The new children’s trail inspired by real-life plant explorer Roy Lancaster. We followed Lancaster The Explorer on an exciting journey around the gardens, discovering fascinating plants from across the globe. Along the way, the children enjoyed fun facts, collected stamps at trail points, and visited an explorer’s hut! We began the day at Chesil Beach, where the children explored the beach for driftwood, filled pots with pebbles, and enjoyed a snack.
Back at the preschool the children have engaged in fossil excavations, sensory frozen egg hatching, and a dinosaur hunt. All week these hands-on ideas cater to different early learning areas and keep little palaeontologists engaged.
