Under close supervision some children used knives to peel bark off elder to make birds nests. Other children used mallets to break up chalk and mixing with plants helps to develop the children’s sensory exploration and creative “mud kitchen” play.
Back at the pre-school a pirate themed activity area allowed the children to immerse their selves in large-scale dramatic play. Walking the plank, then jumping into a crocodile filled sea drawn by the children proved very popular. Other activities included painting a large scale treasure map, hiding shells and letters for treasure in the sand, and a small world tuff tray with pirate themed figures.
